Devon was at the heart of King Arthur's world, though
today there is little trace of his name in place names about the county.
Exeter
was the capital of the Roman administrative district of
Dumnonia, in the land where
King Arthur lived.
Dartmoor has
several spots associated with King Arthur. However, it is surprising
that only a few place names are associated with King Arthur.
Blackingstone Rock,
which is
near to the town of Moretonhampstead, is a spectacular tor on Dartmoor surrounded by mosses, on
which King Arthur is said to have met the devil.
